India To See Hi-Tech ATM Machines In The Next 2-3 Years

MUMBAI:Indian is going to get the most upgraded wordclass atm's in next 2 years as atms life span is upto 7 years most banks would replace old machines with high end machines that meet the international standards.For years, the ATM machines was used for cash dispensation but as
customers became more demanding, the ATM machines have started offering
different types of services than ever before.
Unlike past, now customers can recharge the mobile phone, transfer funds
and even pay their utility bills at the ATM instead of visiting three
locations for these services. Some of the machines even provide
customers an option of video interaction with bank officials while there
other ATMs that have talking ATM designed particularly for visually
impaired.
"User requirements have been different. So far it was limited to cash
required. As they ask for more functions, we will see more innovation
and then a lot of value added services will come," Navroze Dastur,
managing director of NCR India. There are close to 1.80 lakh ATM
machines installed in India. ATM installation are growing at 25 per cent
per annum and the number is expected to touch 2.75 lakh by the end of
next calendar year. NCR, Diebold and Wincor as the three dominant ATM
vendors to banks.
